Pilea involucrata earned the nickname “The Friendship Plant” because of how easy it is to grow and propagate and give to friends to grow their own Pilea.Grow indoors in a warm, humid environment in bright indirect light. Use a peaty soil-based potting mix and place in an area of high humidity. Water moderately in the growing season, less in fall to late winter. Pinching stem tips will keep the plant in a more compact form. It is easily propagated from stem cuttings, making sharing with friends a breeze, thus the common name of friendship plant.
This plant has no serious pest problems. Some pests could include mealybugs, spider mites, and aphids and mealybugs. Leaf spot and stem rot could occur.

‘Moon Valley’ has a more upright habit than the species, which is a trailing plant. Its toothed, deeply textured leaves feature dark-red undersides. Clusters of tiny, pink-green flowers may appear in spring, but they are insignificant compared to the showy foliage.

Even if your plant is placed in ample bright indirect light, you won’t need to water it more than once every 7 days (at most) during the growing season. Do not over water it. Keep it in a place where you have a sun light , NOT the direct sun. For a this plant, you need well-draining soil. This type of soil ensures excess water drains through the plant pot. This prevents all that extra water from building up in the soil. When there’s too much water in your plant’s soil, it blocks the oxygen from getting through to the roots. The lack of oxygen to a plant’s roots can cause root rot. Root rot is just as the name sounds. It’s when the roots of a plant start to rot away. Fertilize once in a month. Loosen the topsoil without disturbing the roots of the plant so it can uptake the nutrients and moisture easily
