Rubber variegated or ficus elastica variegated is a unique tri-color plant belonging to the category of rubber plants. Rubber variegated have red midribs along with bright yellow color margins. Rubber variegated height ranges from 4-6 feet and requires space of about 3-4 feet. You can keep Rubber variegated in empty corners or entry areas to make them look colorful and lively. Watering it once a week is sufficient for its growth. In winter, the soil might remain moist for a longer period of time because of which its watering frequency might have to be decreased.

Rubber Variegated or Ficus elastica Ruby is a variegated version of the Ficus Burgundy. In some, the green is so dark it’s almost black, in others the green is more, well, green. Ficus elastica ‘Ruby’ displays beautiful tricolor variegation on dark rubber tree leaves in a gorgeous patchwork of cream, pink and bronzed green. Can develop into a tall upright tree with age. Rubber trees are an easy care house plant or Summer patio plant. Plant in a roomy pot using a well-drained, humus-rich soil. Water moderately, drying slightly in between applications. Protect from frost!
Plant Care : Ficus elastica Ruby is a easy growing plant. Filtered light is the best option. The most common mistake made with these plants is overwatering. Even if your plant is placed in ample bright indirect light, you won’t need to water it more than once every 7 days (at most) during the growing season. Do not over water it. Keep it in a place where you have a sun light , NOT the direct sun. For a this plant, you need well-draining soil. This type of soil ensures excess water drains through the plant pot. This prevents all that extra water from building up in the soil. When there’s too much water in your plant’s soil, it blocks the oxygen from getting through to the roots. The lack of oxygen to a plant’s roots can cause root rot. Root rot is just as the name sounds. It’s when the roots of a plant start to rot away. Fertilize once in a month. Loosen the topsoil without disturbing the roots of the plant so it can uptake the nutrients and moisture easily
General advise about Indoor plants: Indoor plants require a indirect or filtered sun light (NOT the direct sun) . Each indoor plants have a different requirement of sunlight. So please google or read about the plants light requirement. Plants growth and survivability also depends on the climate and seasons. In simple words right amount of sun light, water, manure , pest control . There is no set standard for watering. Each plant has varying requirement of water .Poke your finger/plain small stick into the soil to check the moisture. Check if the plants stores water in their leaves or in rhizomes (bulb like structure in the roots). Check when the soil is dry then put the water. Over watering kills the plant due to root rot. Best suggestion is to shift the plants outside (in shade) once in awhile till they recover. During the main growing season feed the plant with organic fertilizer once a month
